flasdjfklsjl;kjdf;l =)
Sooo frustrated and unhappy lately.
I don't even know why.
FML.

---

You've broken the walls down around me.
I fall exposed to your ever-searching gaze,
Waiting for the truth I know could end it all.

The vacant chair sits across from me,
Mocking my lonely existence with it's freedom.
I sit back and stare at it, lifeless and cruel.

Trying to rebuild the walls is futile.
I am never to be the same again.
The strongest mortar has no effect.

The sun sinks. Bright to black.
The air carries a fierce chill.
Once your arms protected me from it.

The leaves of emerald wither.
Wrinkled and pale like the skin of the old.
I also, was once green.

The ever-ticking clock strikes twelve.
It is torturing me with hourly reports,
Each of them remind me you are gone.

I once had a brilliant spirit too.
But you drank it away like cheap wine.
I'm left alone, contents empty.

Need a laugh?
God and St. Peter are talking and God says:
"Peter, I need a vaction. Where should i go?"
Peter says:
"Well...you could go to the moon."
God thinks about it and then shakes him head.
"No...it doesn't have any atmosphere."
Peter thinks for a bit and then he says:
"Well, what about earth?"
God says:
"No way...I went there about 2000 years ago and met this nice Jewish girl...they are still talking about it."

I loled when I heard this joke. :)

Institute for Human Continuity
Hello!

So in my biology class, one of the guys asked the biology teacher if he had seen a commercial for the Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) on TV. For those of you who have not seen one of these commercials, watch this before I continue...

Now, it doesn't show on this video, but on TV if you pause the video at the very end of the ad, you will see in the bottom right hand corner is a little 'Columbia Pictures' symbol. When I was watching this preview with my Dad, we thought it was probably fake. So at the end he paused it and that's when we found this symbol. Obviously, we came to the conclusion that this was some sort of advertising stunt for the new movie 2012.

The funny thing is, this idea is completely brilliant. The internet is alive with buzz over these previews! They even created a whole website for the IHC. Check it out!

http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/

I think this is an amazing idea and it is working. I definitely am looking forward to the movie 2012 now.

BUT, back to biology class, when I pointed out that the IHC were just movie ads for the movie 2012, I was greeted with skepticism and laughter. Well, turns out that I'm not as stupid as everyone thought I was.

Thank you very much. :)
Feedback welcome and appreciated!

Movies Anyone?
Hello!
I hope you are having an awesome day.
Does anyone even read this?

ANYWAY,

I've decided that I'm going to share some of my favorite movies of all time. Now, mind, I have a complete movie obsession and I could go on for days and days about awesome movies, but I'm probably only going to talk about 5 for now. For now being the key words. Haha.

So, without further ado...

NUMBER ONE:
Perfume (2006)
Starring: Ben Whishaw, Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Alan Rickman
Director: Tom Tykwer
Overview:
Perfume is set in the colourful backdrop of 18th century France centering on the life of an unfortunate boy, Jean Baptiste, born in the slums of a Paris fish market. Left for dead amongst rotting fish guts, he inhales the plethora of scents around him. He is rescued by some passers by and is subsequently placed in an orphanage. He is an odd child and a social outcast. Possibly as a result of his traumatic birth, he is blessed with outstanding olfactory senses: from early childhood he displays an uncanny ability for discerning the individual smells of everything around him. The twists and turns of his early life are one continuous tragic story. His quest is to learn the art of perfume making and, once taught, Jean Baptise desires to make the ultimate perfume. His skilfully crafted perfumes have the ability to provoke unexpected reactions in both the wearer and the recipient. During his apprenticeship, he discovers he has no personal smell and is initially devastated. On his journey to create olfactory perfection, he seeks alternative ingredients to his perfumes and, in doing so, leaves a grisly trail...
My Opinion:
Okay, so this movie was completely fricken weird, but in the best way possible. It is SO surreal. How often do you get to watch a movie where a killer with a super sense of smell distills his young victims to make perfume out of them? Not very often. Definitely worth seeing. Not for the girls who live to see romantic comedies. Be warned that is this a very strange and sometimes disturbing movie.

NUMBER TWO:
Schindler's List (1993)
Starring: Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes
Director: Steven Spielberg
Overview:
Oskar Schindler is a vain, glorious and greedy German businessman who becomes unlikely humanitarian amid the barbaric Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for Jews. Based on the true story of Oskar Schindler who managed to save about 1100 Jews from being gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. A testament for the good in all of us.
My Opinion: This is probably my favorite movie of all time. Of course, I happen to be a complete history nerd, especially when it comes genocide (mainly the holocaust). The acting in this is brilliant as well as the writing and cinematography. This movie is very eyeopening and doesn't hold back anything. A must see.

NUMBER THREE:
The Libertine (2004)
Starring: Johnny Depp, John Malkovich, Rosamund Pike, Samantha Morton
Director: Laurence Dunmore
Overview:
In 1660, with the return of Charles II to the English throne, theater, the visual arts, science and sexual intercourse flourish. Thirteen years later, in the middle of political and economical problems, Charles II asks the return of his friend John Wilmot, aka the second Earl of Rochester, from the exile to London. John is a morally corrupt, drunkard and sexually active cynical poet, and the King asks him to prepare a play for the French ambassador to make him pleased. John meets the aspirant actress Elizabeth Barry in the playhouse and decides to make her a great star.
My Opinion:
The acting in this movie blew me away. I am a huge Johnny Depp fan and I love everything he does, but his acting in this is just astounding. This movie has no boundaries, some of the subject matter is completely vulgar, but in an honest memorable way. Has some funny moments, but is mostly intense and dark. Not for girls who like Johnny Depp for his looks, he definitely is not attractive in this movie.

NUMBER FOUR:
Life is Beautiful (1997)
Starring: Roberto Benigni, Nicoletta Braschi, Giorgio Cantarini
Director: Roberto Benigni

Overview:
In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.
My Opinion:
This movie is sooo inspirational! It is a beautiful, gentle film, but still takes place during the Holocaust. It's a masterpiece. I never get tired of watching it. Go see it right now, for serious.

NUMBER FIVE:
The Last of the Mohicans (1992)
Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, Russell Means
Director: Michael Mann
Overview:
In 18th century North America during the French and Indian War, a white man adopted by the last members of a dying tribe called the Mohicans unwittingly becomes the protector of the two daughters of a British colonel, who have been targeted by Magua, a sadistic and vengeful Huron warrior who has dedicated his life to destroying the girls' father for a past injustice.
My Opinion: I have watched the movie so much that I know every word. It is so beautiful and has the best soundtrack I have ever listened to. This movie contains an epic love story that rivals Titanic, good acting, beautiful scenery, and a masterful plot.

Alright I think I've done enough talking...I think I will compose a list of 'Movies to See Before You Die'. It won't be in this much detail though...Haha.
By the way, all of the overviews were copied from imdb.com. I didn't write any of them.

If you have any movie suggestions for me, or if you want to talk about one of the movies I mentioned above, comment below or email me (imKATIE@live.com).

I Hate Sambuca.
Let me tell you, I will never, ever, drink Sambuca ever again.
EVER.
The thought of it right now makes me want to throw up...
Like I didn't do enough of that last night. >.>

Yesss. So one of my best friends that moved away came down for the weekend. We went to one of our friends 18th birthday party!

When I got off work I went out for supper with a couple friends then we went back to my house. They watched TV while I got ready and then we went over to one of my other friends houses for pre-drinks...Sambuca shots!

I absolutely hate black liqourice, and for those of you who don't know what this has to do with anything, Sambuca tastes like black liquorice. But, alcohol is alcohol, and I did it anyway...Three or four times.

At this point, it hadn't hit us yet, so we left the house and walked to the party.
Upon arriving, I was greeted by several people who had had quite a bit more than me to drink, and a massive head rush that told me the alcohol was kicking in.

Yeah so I don't remember much past that part. I remember being too wasted to play this silly drinking game...I think it was called thumper? I don't know...It was very loud though. I failed at it so I gave up and went off.

Found some of the Native guys from my school and asked them if my annoying and ignorant history teacher ever offended them in class. They told me that she offended them pretty much every day. Haha. I could totally write a massive rant just on that one teacher. She is quite irritating.

I seem to remember someone telling me that I needed to leave. I think it was the hosts sister. One of them anyway...But I told her I had nowhere else to go. I couldn't go home because I was pretty wasted and my parents only have me two beer. She said I could stay and told me to go downstairs.

This is where I spent the next couple hours sitting against a wall and wondering why the hell the walls were moving.

Now comes the part why I tell you exactly why I will never drink Sambuca again.

I don't even remember how I got into the washroom, but somehow I had the door locked and the light on, my glasses off and sitting neatly beside the sink, and my hair pulled back, and hugging the toilet.

All I could taste was Sambuca. It was disgusting.

When I managed to stop I went and sat around in the hall with a few people. Almost passed out, then was told by someone I shouldn't do that incase I throw up and choke on it. Not a very pleasant thought. So I tried to stay awake.

Threw up a couple more times, was annoyed by a girl...who is a bitch and I dislike...but seeing as she has no friends she pretends she is friends with the popular kids...but that's another story entirely.

When I finally knew I wouldn't throw up anymore I went and crashed on the floor for awhile and then sat up and attempted to watch the movie Mirrors, which they had put on. I was drunk, but the movie was still completely lame.

Around 4:00 me and a couple of the people that were there went upstairs in search of pizza. We didn't find any, so instead we made an awesome batch of nachoes. :D

Somewhere around 5:00 I passed out on the couch.

I remember pretty much nothing at all. Which is sort of scary. Haha. Blehh. Even writing this I remember the taste of Sambuca. Eww.

Okay...so I realize this story isn't that interesting, but I'm sure when I look back on this later I'll laugh at myself. At least I can get all this out of my head now while it's...fresh? Haha.

Bye bye.
P.S: Probably going to try and find a new layout that allows people to follow me/comment.

Back to Work
Heyyy!

Okay, I just want to point out that it is the 8th anniversary of 9/11. It doesn't feel like it's been that long really...I guess its because the war isn't in our country. It's easy to forget whats going on around us sometimes.

I still remember the morning of September 11, 2001 very clearly. I woke up, it was a bit grey outside, but I felt overall good. I actually remember saying out loud 'Today will be a good day'. I went upstairs and saw what my Mum was watching on the TV...It was a news replay of the first tower being hit. I was only 9, but I knew that it was something very bad that would impact the world for years to come.

Sooo, today was picture day. Blehhh. I missed it because I have a spare first period and pictures were first period...But it was okay because my biology teacher let me go second period. I always feel the urge to laugh at the camera man. Not because he is funny, but because he is so lame. I would say that is a dead end job. And they always make these lame jokes to make you laugh. The only reason I've ever laughed at one of them was because I couldn't believe they were lame enough to even say that. Ugh. This one was no different. He wanted me to say 'sweet'. Yeah...or not.

SO BACK AT THE CO-OP AGAIN, TODAY WAS MY FIRST DAY.
Eff dat shyt.
I hate this job so much.
I guess I should feel lucky I actually have a job...But seeing as I'm wallowing in self pity...
Every Friday night we have to hang the sale signs for the next weeks sales. Of course we have to do this after the store closes, which means we have to stay late. So we have to go down each isle, find the product, and stick annoying little plastic signs in annoying little plastic slots. Two hours. You would think that with technology these days we could come up with like...digital sale signs or something. It wouldn't even be that expensive and it would save a lot of paper/plastic.

RANDOM LITTLE FACT: Every tiny bit of plastic ever made is still floating around the Earth somewhere.

I HAVE A BOOK SUGGESTION FOR EVERYONEEE!
Well this is for fantasy/ninja/action/adventure lovers. :D
My Dad introduced me to a series called Tales of the Otori. It is an awesome series! It's set in ancient Japan and has lots of intense ninja fight scenes and a killer plot. Of course, it also has a wonderful forbidden love plot thrown in, just to make it even more amazing. The first book in the series is called 'Across the Nightingale Floor' and it's by Lian Hern.

Anyway...I think that's all for now. Haha.

Back to School
Hello there!

This blog is going to just be my ramblings about my grade 12 year...
And then eventually I'll use it to update people about my European travels!

I am hoping to go to Britain for a year once school is done. That way I can travel and work, should be fun!

I'm pretty nervous about going on my own, but I'm going to force myself into it because I know if I don't I'll regret it for the rest of my life.

I can't wait to get out of this small town! There are so many things I want to experience.

Not so much to say about school yet...
It's only just started.
Things were a bit hectic at first because of the renovations that they are doing. We also just happened to have a heat wave for the first week of school and there is no air conditioning because of the construction. So hot! At least things have settled down now. It actually rained for a bit today!

I've been talking to the career counselor at my school and asked him about history courses, especially ones around genocide studies/genealogy. I am going to have to visit him again (maybe tomorrow?) and see what he has found.

I also mentioned that I was going to go to Britain for a year through swap. He said it was one of the better programs. I asked him when I should think about applying and he said it would be safe to apply in January just so I can make sure all my papers (passport, visa...) are ready so I don't have to be rushed. He also said that he can help me with applying closer to the date. That made me feel good. I can't wait to apply! It will make everything seem so final and real. Up until them I'm sure I'll feel like I'm dreaming.

I came home and talked to Mum about getting me a passport, as I don't have one. She said that she already had the application, so we filled that out today. I will need to travel to a city close to us to get my passport photo done because the waiting time for one in town is 3 weeks.

I have to start back to the Co-Op tomorrow...Not looking forward to that. When I told them they could put me back on the schedule I asked them to give me a call.

They didn't.

I did get a call yesterday at about 4:30 actually, but that call was telling me I was supposed to be working. I told them that if they had actually called me to tell me I was back on the schedule that I could have changed my plans and been able to come into work...However, I was busy that day and couldn't make it. Gosh. That made me SOOOOO much more excited about going to back to work.

I've been considering looking around for another job. Maybe waitressing? I'm sure it would make more money and I really need to start saving a lot more for when I go away. I want to be able to travel and not just be stuck working the whole time.

Anyway...
That pretty much has you up to date about my Grade 12 life so far!
